Back in July 2013, Buchanan Park (aka The Rodeo Grounds) was swingin', with the likes of Australian Country Music artist Troy Cassar-Daley and the Queensland Youth Orchestra Big Band.
The Swingin' Utes Festival is a collaboration between the Queensland Music Festival and James Morrison, Australia's renowned Brass musician. The festival itself travelled around Queensland and was a free event.
For some weeks prior to the event, around 200 young children would practise a few songs in their own school choir - to perform on the night. Each school Choir performed a couple of songs and then the big finale was all 200 children being ushered through the Rodeo shutes to stand shoulder to shoulder to perform a song written specifically to celebrate Mount Isa's 90th Birthday this year. There is a small movie at the end of the blog for you to hear just how fantastic they all were. I was one of the very proud mums sitting right up the front watching!!
It was a full day of activity for the young ones and they all did a fantastic job.
