2016 Camooweal Campdraft & Rodeo (near Mount Isa)

2016 Camooweal Campdraft & Rodeo

I headed out to the Camooweal Campdraft on the weekend.  This event is generally run on the last weekend in May each year.

One of the best things about going along to have a look at these wonderful country events, is the commentary from the fella's in their shaded boxes.

I sure learnt alot of new Aussie Slang words - and one I am not going to forget is;  "Sorbents" , these are the (mainly) kids who come out nowhere, galloping ( or not) on their chosen steed to 'clean the ring' of wayward calves and cattle after each competitor.

While we missed out on seeing most of the  Restricted Open, with prize of  $2000 ( we were too busy enjoying a wonderful counter meal at the local pub), we did manage to catch the Mini, Junior and Juvenile Drafts.

These kids really are quite amazing and brave!
If you ever get the chance to go along to a campdraft or a rodeo being held in a small outback or country town - go yourself a favour and go along.  Show your support.
